GP motorcycle racing is currently the premier category of motorbike road racing events organized on several circuit racing tracks officially sanctioned by the FÉdÉration Internationale de Motorcycling (FIM). The most famous GP race is the Motocross Grand Prix held annually in Le Castel de Locarno, near Locarno, Italy. The other events include the GP2 event series, the track of the GP3 Teams; the GP3 national road championship; and the national cyclo championships. The GP motorcycle races are categorized into different stages. These stages are based on the form of bikes and the abilities of the riders.

Apart from making the race easier, the tyres have also changed a great deal. Before, two-stroke tyres were used but these days, these are not being used any longer due to the greater grip provided by the modern four-stroke tyres.

As for the level of the two-stroke bikes in each class, there have been some changes as well. For instance, the older bikes do not have very powerful engines and so they could only be used in the low class of the Grand Prix. However, with the introduction of the new V-tech bikes, these bikes have powerful engines and so can be used in the Grand Prix. In addition, all the top class bikes have four-wheel drive and are thus classified according to their engine capacity.

The Grand Prix bikes are also fitted with more powerful engines, whereas before these engines were relatively weak. This has made the racing experience all the more thrilling for the rider. The rider no longer has to worry about the weak engines and has much more power, depending on the bike he is using. The other big change in this field is that all the participants in the GP are allowed to use sidecars.
