Harley-Davidson’s Unknown Buell Motorcycles

Harley-Davidson's Unknown Buell Motorcycles

The range of Buell motorcycles was started by Erik Buell, an ex-Harley-Davidson engineer in 1983. However, in October of 2009, these bikes were discontinued to focus on Harley-Davidson bikes. Here are some of the motorcycles the Buell designed.

2010 Buell 1125CR

Buell sees the 1125CR as a modern-day café racer. The perfect blend of class-leading performance with a dark style and an attitude to push the limits of the streetfighter category makes it hard to deny the fact. Being a stripped-down version of 1125R, this model manages to turn heads.

The Rotax Helicon powertrain uses four valves per cylinder, liquid-cooled 72 degrees V-Twin to displace 1,125 ccs and produce 146 hp. It provides a peak torque of 113 Nm but varies down to 8.1 Nm of torque from 3,000 to 10,500 r/min.

2010 Firebolt XB12R Buell Motorcycles

The Buell Firebolt is in parallel with the 1125R, and in 2010, we find the same qualities as the American company’s superbike model: lightweight, razor-sharp agility, and torque-rich V-Twin powerplant.

Thunderstorm 1203cc air/oil/fan-cooled, 4-stroke, 45 degrees V-twin engine produces a 103 hp. The engine is capable of producing a torque of 114 Nm at 6,000 r/min. It can reach a top speed of 145 mph.

2010 XB12Ss/XB12Scg/XB9SX

Buell launched the 2010 line-up and the implicit press release for it. From there, we know about the Lightning series, one that allows different types of riders to choose from one of the three Buell motorcycles: the XB12Ss, XB12Scg, and XB9SX.

Thunderstorm air/oil/fan-cooled, 4-stroke, 45 degrees V-twin engine produces a 146 hp at 9800 rpm by displacing 1203ccs. The engine is capable of producing a torque of 113.9 Nm at 6,000 r/min. It can reach a top speed of 140 mph.

Buell Motorcycles – 2010 Ulysses XB12X/XB12XT

The 2010 line-up of Buell motorcycles would be incomplete without the Ulysses models, the sport-bike XB12X, and the tourer XB12XT. At first glance, the Ulysses XB12XT model comes with standard side and top cases, also offering heated grips and tall windscreen, as any touring motorcycle should.

Thunderstorm air/oil/fan-cooled, 4-stroke, 45 degrees V-twin engine produces a 103 hp at 6,800 rpm by displacing 1203ccs. The engine is capable of producing a torque of 114 Nm at 6,000 r/min. It can reach a top speed of 130 mph.

Buell Blast

Buell’s 2009 Blast model is a small, light, and versatile motorcycle. It is simple, but very fuel-efficient, 492 ccs single-cylinder air-cooled engine.

Among all Buell motorcycles of the American motorcycle maker, this is the only one that gets a European look, but features like aggressive wheels, one-piece seat, and final belt drive still set it apart.

The air-cooled, 4-stroke, single-cylinder engine produces a 34 hp at 6,500 r/min. The engine is capable of producing a torque of 40.7 Nm at 3,200 r/min. It can reach a top speed of 110 mph.
