Bike riding is a form of transportation as well as a sport. There are several different types of bicycles used for riding including hybrids, mountain bikes, comfort bikes, etc. This includes not only the physical advantages but also the mental health benefits associated with it. The activity has many benefits, including those on the individual and on society.

For people who are too busy to hit the gym for hours on end, riding a bike is a great alternative because it can be done in relatively little time and provides many of the same benefits as running or jogging does. Exercise like biking is great at reducing stress because it allows you to get away for a few minutes freeing yourself from whatever was causing you anxiety. Studies have shown that people who bike for 20-30 minutes a day, three times a week will see an improvement in their mood and fewer symptoms of depression.

Bike riding is great for the environment because it reduces the usage of fossil fuels like oil which emits greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
